Over 2000 years of proven healing power through needles
Acupuncture is a gentle alternative treatment that helps relieve pain, swelling, flushing, movement restrictions, and other disorders.
Which conditions can be treated with acupuncture?
We use mainly the orthopaedic treatment technique. It helps very efficiently in joint pain, movement restrictions, swelling after surgery, scar pain, back pain, and in many pain conditions in general.
How long does the treatment take?
In general, 5-20 25-minute appointments at weekly intervals are necessary to achieve good results. There is also the so-called second acupuncture, which, as the name suggests, lasts for seconds. And last but not least, we also carry out treatments with permanent acupuncture needles that are quickly applied and can be worn at home.
When can I expect an improvement?
The effect sets in at different times: sometimes immediately, sometimes with a slight delay. Acupuncture draws its strength from rest, and it is necessary to give it time. Almost all patients report a pleasant relaxation after the session.
Is the therapy associated with any risks or side effects?
Acupuncture is very safe, and is very well tolerated. Nevertheless, adverse side effects or complications are always a possibility. You will receive detailed information about them prior to the treatment. For example, bruising, nerve damage, and pain after treatment are possible.
How does acupuncture work?
Needles are inserted into precisely determined spots that are different for each illness. Some are inserted superficial, others a little deeper down to the muscles. These acupuncture points are located on energy lines, the so-called meridians. According to the traditional Chinese understanding, the life energy "chi" flows in them and can be redistributed using the needle techniques. Yin and Yang play a special role here. An imbalance of these forces in the body gradually causes illness.
What does the therapy cost, and who pays for it?
The costs are covered by most private health insurance funds. The workers’ compensation board will reimburse some costs upon application. The latest studies show an excellent effect for joint failure in the knee and for chronic back pain, which is why the costs of the therapy are finally being borne by the statutory health insurance companies. We are required to invoice the treatment of other conditions as a private service. Depending on the illness, a typical invoice amount is between € 20 and € 60 per session. The good news for patients is, the costs are usually tax-deductible.
